areas;

seek to acquire more;

Prevent overcrowding, suburban sprawl,
oversized houses and commercial buildings;

GOALS FOR
2008

Support good government.

Support the ability of the
Conservation Department and
Commission to protect our
resources.

Continue campaign to improve
P&Z hearing conduct to protect
town character.

Continue to support
neighborhood groups as they try
to protect town character.
Continue advising the Town in
updating Historic Building Survey.

Continue monitoring Train Station
Project as best we can amid
Byzantine maneuvering by the
parties involved.

Convince P&Z to declare the
Western Fairfield Gateway Village
District area to help control
development of Exxide and the
Post Road between Mill River
and Mill Plain Roads, as
recommended in 2006 by the
Blue Ribbon Panel.

Back the Sturges Cottage,
Penfield Lighthouse, Osborne
House,  and other new
preservation efforts to add to the
Town’s Historic Building Network.

Get our State Legislature
delegation going on introducing
bills to strengthen local zoning
authority with statutes, allowing
them to deny applications on the
grounds of traffic impact, terrain
despoliation and ruination of
local character, all of  which have
been thrown out by Superior and
Appellate Court Judiciary.  We
need to tune up those Judges on
the take of  the builder lobby.
