WHAT WE ACCOMPLISHED in 2007

  • Backed Sasquanaug Association’s successful
effort to stop the Station St. condo complex in
    Southport.

  • Backed  the Southport Conservancy’s  ongoing
effort to save the Osborne House in Southport.

  • Backed the Beaumont Street Neighborhood’s
successful effort  in blocking the Devore Building’
s developers from razing a historic house.

  • Backed “PODs” successful effort (with an
interventions and money)  in Greenfield Hill to
block a carcinogenic astro turf field from being
installed by Fairfield Country Day School.

  • Backed Stratfield’s successful effort (with
    money) to block Walgreens.

  • Backed the successful effort to put revisions to
the Design Business District zoning regs on the
    books.

  • Initiated a public opinion concern for Planning
and Zoning to improve their meeting conduct with
more public friendly hearings, sound system and
seating.  Persisted with letters and publicity.

  • Researched background and monitored RTM
Subcommittee work on drafting demolition delay,
    stonewall preservation and tree preservation
ordinances, as recommended by the Selectmans’
Blue Ribbon Panel on which we had
representation  Out of this, the demolition delay
made it on to the books after countless hours of
our testimony at countless hearings, countering
    opposing arguments from real estate
    broker/builders.

  • Researched background information for the
beginning Town bid to update the Historic
Building Survey.  Never got the credit, but we
shaped the First Selectman’s and the RTM’s
heads with the right information and the right
state grants to proceed with updating the towns
Historic Building survey as mandated by Fairfield
being a certified local government which
provides for future financial grants for
    preservation programs.

  • Raised PAC money and campaign footwork and
ads for candidates to Planning and Zoning and
Zoning Board of Appeals candidates as well as
the Selectmen race.  Nine out of eleven of our
    people won election.
